The 2018 team is already working hard to prepare for their season which starts several months from now! The girls team has big things planned for the upcoming season after having their most successful season in 50 years! In 2018, the team adds new depth and star power to several events for both dual meet, the regionals meet and State. That paired with the young, talented team from 2017 has everyone excited about what the 2018 team can accomplish. Goas include a winning record, a run through the Metro Conference and a big trip to Marshalltown!
A Look Back At 2017
The 2017 Lincoln Girls swim team worked hard day in and day out to leave their mark in the history books at Lincoln High School. This year was team was the 50th Anniversary season and all wanted to make it one to remember. The girls came in prepared for the year, having spent the prior 11 months participating in off-season training.
That dedication paid off! The team set seven school records as part of the 15 Top 5 Records set this year.
Jolynn Harris finished as State Runner-Up in diving and won her regional. Chloe Pearson is now 2nd all time for diving at Lincoln and finished 9th at State. Chloe Marquis set the school record in the 100 Fly and 100 Back and qualified in four events to the State Meet as a freshman! Meanwhile Cat Dooley, Kalani Mangin, Anika Snow and Ava Zaugg also qualified for State. Ellie Sizemore finished 3rd all time in the 500 Free as a freshman. She also earned her Sub :60 t-shirt and so did Kalani Mangin, Chloe Marquis, Anika Snow, and Diana Ward.
The team also accomplished:
- 9-1 record (the best winning percentage ever)
- 2nd in the Pink in the Pool Invite
- Regular Season Metro Conference Champs
- Won Metro Conference Championship Meet
- 3rd at the Regional meet
- 13th in the state-wide power rankings
- 17th at the State meet
