Boys Swimmers adding Up Wins

As the Rails boys swimmers get ready for the final stages of the 2019-20 season and after the hard holiday break yardage, they first had to endure three long road trips over eight days, and did so in winning fashion! Prior to the road trip the boys hosted SE Polk and won a always close meet with the Rams, followed with wins over Carroll, Newton, Ottumwa, and Centerville. With the five consecutive wins the swimmers enter the break with a 5-2 record and multiple events stacked in to the top 20 in the state.

Previous state qualifiers Will Bennett, Konnor Klocke, Logan Neifert and Derek Webster have led the team on the winning streak, but newcomer Will Chase has provided depth to events with juniors Keaton Basinger and Matthew Gudenkauf, who have stepped up huge for the team during the 2019-20 season.

The boys will push hard through the holiday break before setting their sights on conference rivals Hoover and East, and then the championship portion of the season.

Below are the current top 20 in the state rankings

50 Freestyle: Will Bennett (8th)
100 Freestyle: Will Bennett (17th)
200 Free Relay: Neifert, Basinger, Klocke, Bennett (17th)
