LHS Rails & Carroll Tigers Rivalry History

Rivalry History
When Coach Weber took over the program in 2005, the Rails were a young team. Carroll beat Lincoln handily by almost 100 points. But a year later, the Rails were a much stronger and faster team. The girls went to Carroll and had a fantastic meet. By the time the Tigers huddled up after the 50 free, it was too late. With outstanding performances, the Rails won a close one – coming down to the 400 Free Relay and the .10 second touch to victory. Lincoln won a total of three straight, 2006, 2007 & 2008.

In 2009, the Rails’ large senior class was gone and the program had to rebuild with young athletes. Carroll, meanwhile, was a strong and deep team. They won the next three years straight – 2009, 2010, and 2011.

In 2012, the meet was intense! Lincoln headed to Carroll ready to swim for win. But the Tigers weren’t giving up their winning streak without a fight. In the end, the Rails lost a close one.

However, 2013 brought a Rails win which was the first time that class of seniors had ever beat Carroll and 2014 was another victory for the Rails. This put the series tied at 5-5. But in 2015, the Tigers rallied in the winner take-all 400 Free Relay to edge out a victory of the Rails.

2016 was a chance for the Rails to tie the all-time win record at 6-6! And the Rails got their redemption, as the team pulled out their own victory in another winner take-all 400 Free Relay. In 2017 the Rails won again in another meet filled with close races, making the series 7-6 in the Rails favor!

We hope to see our fans make the drive to Carroll for another close meet on Thursday, September 6th to see who will get bragging rights for another year! The meet starts at 5:30PM.
