The District swim meet is just 10 days away – October 28! Below are some meet details and for the team event following the meet.
Before the Meet
There’s a team dinner on Friday, Oct. 27 hosted by the Mangins in the LHS Commons. Plan to attend.
While there are no other maroon teams at Regionals this year, we encourage you to wear your GOLD OUT shirts to the meet if you have them. The gold shirts we had ordered that last two seasons have been discontinued and we haven’t found a suitable substitute yet (despite over a month of looking!). If you don’t have a Gold Out shirt, that’s OK! Just wear your favorite maroon Rails Swim/Dive shirt. Both will let the other schools know the Rails have packed the stands with maroon and gold.

New Social Media Campaign for 2017 – #TicketPunched
The IGHSAU has a fun social media campaign this year to promote state qualifiers in fall activities. Each regional site will be provided “tickets” that will be given to each regional champion who has “punched their ticket” to the State Meet. Each team is being asked to take a photo of their champion with their ticket to post on our social media platforms (Twitter and/or Instagram).
If the Rails have any regional champions, we’ll identify the athlete and event and post with the hashtag #TicketPunched and #IGHSAU. The IGHSAU will repost the photo on the IGHSAU social media sites to build recognition for the athlete’s accomplishments.
Post Meet Celebration
The team will gather immediately following the meet at the Dooley house. This is especially important with the venue change (due to the drive) so please ensure your swimmers have with them what they will need for after the meet. We will find out who qualified to the state meet together as a team. We ask that everyone stay off their phones until after the coaches’ announcement. Dinner will enjoyed as team. Families are also invited to this event. The email sent by Coach Weber Tuesday, Oct. 24 has additional details. Please contact the Dooleys or Head Coach Weber with futher questions. The celebration typically ends around 6:30/7:00PM.
