The Rails traveled to Marshalltown for their 8th consecutive state meet appearance on Saturday (2/13). The guys qualified in all three relays, which allowed them to send nine guys.
State is truly an atmosphere unlike any other. The stands are packed with thousands of fans. Those same fans wait in line outside in the cold for hours to get a choice spot in the arena. All-American athletes compete for medals and state records while showcasing their exceptional talent. Coaches gather and celebrate another successful season. It’s always a fun and exciting day!
The Rails fully tapered for Districts, but the guys always aim to hold their times, or even drop a little. And they succeeded!
- The Medley Relay (Greenwood, Whitehead, Worth, Belden) dropped more time and re-set the school record to a 1:41.12! They also moved up from 22nd to 18th.
- The Sprint Relay (Worth, Pacini, Belden, Clark) mostly held their time. The guys finished 20th overall.
- The 400 Free Relay (Belden, Pacini, Greenwood, Worth) also mostly held their time. They finished 17th overall!
- Also, during the first break, Coach Weber accepted plaques for being named District Coach (and Staff) of the Year for the Indianola district!
Here’s a few photos from the day. Check out the team’s Shutterfly website for more photos in the coming days.
Team Banquet, February 16: Come to Lincoln Commons to celebrate the 2015/16 men’s season at the team banquet. There coaches pass out letters and team awards. It’s one last night to gather as a team while enjoying delicious Italian food. Please note: We ask that each family bring $5/person for dinner.
