We’d like to introduce our third senior in the Meet The Seniors series – Valeria Santiago. Learn more about the swimmer who got her whole family involved! These posts offer a great chance for all of our fans to see what wonderful young ladies help lead our team.
Valeria has been a varsity member of the Lincoln High School team for four years. She began with middle school and club swimming and soon had her two younger siblings involved on the club team too! Valeria has continued to see big improvements in one of the toughest events, the 100 Fly. Valeria has been the proud recipient of the Spirit Award in 2012 and 2013.

Years spent swimming: 6 years
Favorite Win: Beating Carroll
Favorite Swimming Quote(s): “If you finish your race and you don’t get the place or time you wanted but you know you gave it your all and could give nothing more, then you have won.”
Message for the Team: Mornings are hard. Practices are hard. But winning is fun!
Coach’s Comments: “Valeria is a motivator. She works hard in practice, works hard in the off-season, and encourages others to do better, push harder. It’s the reason she’s won the Spirit Award for two straight seasons. And she does it for more than just her high school teammates. She’s a great club coach for the younger swimmers for all those reasons too. She’s also strong swimmer in all four strokes. She’s getting faster and faster in the Fly and is swimming it as part of the “A” Medley this year. I know she’s got some big goals for the final meets of her career and I have a lot of confidence in her.”
