Week 1 is over for the men’s team! That means the guys have survived their first week of 5:45AM practices, their first week of 2 hour afternoon practices and their first Saturday practice. But all the hard work will pay off in the end! This year’s team is one of the largest in the last 10 years, with 19 guys representing LHS in the pool. The guys have some big goals too, including winning several dual meets and sending athletes to the State meet.
Stay tuned for our Meet the Team series which will introduce our Rails Swimming supporters to guys by class. Plus, we plan to have a Meet the Senior series to feature this year’s two seniors with more in-depth articles.
The guys will have practices only for a couple more weeks. They’ll be using that time to build muscle, refine technique and prepare for their first opponents, a quad dual meet against Waukee, Newton and Grinnell. Part of this preparation will be time trials! Read more about time trials below.
Time Trials Meet on November 23th
Time Trials is an opportunity for the guys to see where they stand before the first meet of the year. The meet is set up to run like a high school meet and fans are encouraged to come watch and cheer! The meet will begin at 8:45AM apprx. once warm-ups are over. More details will shared when the meet gets a little closer.
Lincoln vs. Waukee, Newton, & Grinnell at the Waukee YMCA on December 5th.
This is the first time in several years that the Rails have swam in a quad dual meet. The guys will face some great competition from all the teams and hope to walk away with more than one win that night! We look forward to seeing all of our great fans at Waukee!
