Rails Top Hoover in 90-79 Win!

It’s been a long few years for the Lincoln swimming seniors and juniors. The seniors haven’t beaten the Huskies since they were freshman, meanwhile the juniors have never have won against their heated rival.

But that all changed Tuesday night (9/25).

The Rails came out swinging from the first event, winning the 200 Medley Relay. But Hoover countered with 1st, 3rd and 4th places in the 200 Free to bring the meet to a tie. Ultimately it was a battle to the end, as the Rails and Huskies changed leads six times during the meet, but the Rails came out on top!

The teams swam well and below are just a few highlights from the meet:

  • The 200 Free Relay (Purscell, Song, Contreras, Greenwood) earned a new season best time
    of 1:47.78
  • Taking 1 and 2 in the 100 Fly. Great job Autum Song and Valeria Santiago
  • Earning 1, 2 and 3 in the 100 Breaststroke. Congrats Ane Skartvedt, Autum Song and
    Olivia Simpson!
  • Emilie Skartvedt’s split in the 400 Free Relay was a new personal best of 1:02.82
  • Valeria Santiago’s split in the 400 Free Relay was also a new personal best – 1:06.74

The team ends their long stretch of meets with three victories, bringing their record to 7-3 on the season and tied for first place in the Metro Conference.

The divers head to S.E. Polk on Thursday (9/27) for a dive-only meet. The whole team next competes against Roosevelt in their last home meet Tuesday, Oct. 2nd at 5:30PM. More details about the meet and Senior Night will be posted online Monday (10/1).
