Thanks again for taking our survey! It helps us keep the program on the right track when we hear from all of you. We are extremely happy with the results and that our families think so highly of the program. In fact, 100% of you said you were satisfied and that you’d recommend the program to others. That is the best compliment of all!
One thing that got the most questions or comments was the Fall/Winter schedule. Because of this, we wanted to share with you how the Fall/Winter schedule was decided.
As you all know, during the summer we can have practice whenever we want. This allowed us to spread out and offer seven practices each day. We love that! But once school starts that simply isn’t an option. It’s further complicated by the fact the high schoolers are in season and practicing over 2.5 hours per day after school.
So we had to come up with a solution to still have multiple practice slots during the school week and weekend or face overcrowding in the pool. If we stuck to the traditional M/T/TH practice schedule, we’d have practice starting at 6PM and going until 11PM. Obviously, that’s not an option with school the next day.
We could also cut the team by 50% for the Fall/Winter season to prevent overcrowding. But since our goal is to allow every interested swimmer the chance to succeed, turning away 100 swimmers is definitely not going happen!
This led us to split practices into schedule you see below. It allows us to take advantage of the weekend, so we can have more practices. And it gets all of our swimmers out of the pool at 8PM so they can still be prepared for school the next day.
With the Fall/Winter season being 18 weeks long, it’s OK to miss some practices. We completely understand that every Friday night (or Saturday) might not be free for the next several months. Even if your child can only come two days a week – they will still learn and become a better swimmer.
Thank you for supporting our program! We’re proud to be the most comprehensive swim club in the Greater Des Moines area and enjoy working with your children very much.
See you next season! Go Rails!
