June 9th Event Details

As you may know, Rails Swimming is doing something we’ve never done before – a big volunteering event! This event gives us the chance to earn years worth of fundraising dollars for one Saturday’s work!

The event is Saturday, June 9th from 7am-5pm. We’ll be running the catering area of John Deere Des Moines Works’ company picnic. The event will be on the company grounds. Directions from the southside of Des Moines are below. You can also print this information to have with you.

Dress Code
There is a dress code for the event because we need to look respectable for their company and represent our group accordingly. This dress code is mandated by the national group coordinating volunteers. You will be provided a company polo to wear for the day. The polo must be returned to receive our full donation. Khakis, capris, khaki shorts or solid jeans (with no holes) can be worn. We will be working outside, so dress accordingly.

Additional Information
This is a very large company picnic with thousands of people going through the area. We will be expected to set up tables, tents and chairs, hand out food, cook, set tables, help clean tables etc. To receive the full donation amount, you must be there the entire time AND turn in your polo at the end of the day.

THANK YOU to all of our volunteers! We appreciate your support as we continue to build the program.
